How Final X works
At Final X, the winner of each World Team Trials bracket squares off against the previous year's World/Olympic medalist (or otherwise-seeded top wrestler) in a best-of-three series. The Final X winner earns the U.S. spot at the World Championships. Five men's weights this year (65, 79, 86, 92, 97) bypassed the WTT bracket entirely — both Final X slots were pre-set by prior placement.
