The men's freestyle brackets are out at the 2026 Senior World Championships in Astana, Kazakhstan. Ten Americans wrestle over four days, starting Thursday, and here's who each of them gets first.
Thursday, Oct. 29: 65kg and 97kg
Qualification rounds 1:30 AM ET, semifinals 7:30 AM ET. Repechage Friday at 1:30 AM ET, medal matches Friday at 9 AM ET.
- 65kg, Bo Bassett: Round of 32 vs. Peiman Biabani (Canada), the 3 seed. Biabani lost to Real Woods 3-1 at the 2025 Worlds and 3-2 in the Pan American final in May. Bassett beat Woods at Final X for this spot, and this is his Senior Worlds debut.
- 97kg, Kyle Snyder: The 1 seed opens in the round of 16 against the winner of Alperen Tokgoz (Turkey) and Demchigdorj Tumurbaatar (Mongolia). Abdulrashid Sadulaev is in Snyder's quarter, opening against Kazakhstan's Aitmukhan, so a Snyder vs. Sadulaev quarterfinal is two wins apiece away. Iran's Hassan Yazdani is in the other half.
Friday, Oct. 30: 61kg, 70kg, 86kg and 125kg
Qualification rounds 1:30 AM ET, semifinals 7:30 AM ET. Repechage Saturday at 1:30 AM ET, medal matches Saturday at 9 AM ET.
- 61kg, Marcus Blaze: Qualification vs. Emrah Ormanoglu (Turkey). The winner gets the winner of Leomid Colesnic (Moldova) and Besir Alili (North Macedonia).
- 70kg, Zain Retherford: Qualification vs. Muhammad Abdurachmanov (Belgium), then Hungary's Iszmail Muszukajev.
- 86kg, Kyle Dake: Qualification vs. Batbilguun Naadambat (Mongolia), then Lithuania's Paulius Lescauskas. Dake is going for a fifth World title, and his first at a third weight class.
- 125kg, Wyatt Hendrickson: Qualification vs. Shamil Sharipov (Bahrain). The winner gets the winner of Gheorghe Erhan (Moldova) and China's Buheeerdun.
Saturday, Oct. 31: 57kg, 74kg, 79kg and 92kg
Qualification rounds 1:30 AM ET, semifinals 7:30 AM ET. Repechage Sunday at 6:30 AM ET, medal matches Sunday at 8 AM ET (daylight saving time ends Sunday).
- 57kg, Spencer Lee: Round of 32 vs. Edwin Segura Guerra (Guatemala).
- 74kg, James Green: Round of 32 vs. Orozobek Toktomambetov (Kyrgyzstan), in a field that opened up when Olympic champion Razambek Zhamalov withdrew. It's Green's eighth World Championships.
- 79kg, Levi Haines: Qualification vs. Mohammed Bouazouni (Morocco). The winner gets the winner of Canada's Connor Church and Poland's Szymon Wojtkowski.
- 92kg, Trent Hidlay: Round of 16 vs. Jesaia Uera (Nauru).
