It's now official: Amit Elor will not compete at the 2026 Senior World Championships next week in Astana, Kazakhstan.
The Olympic champion and two-time World champion is out due to health issues, and No. 2 Alexandra Glaude is also unable to compete because of an injury. That bumps Precious Wieser, the No. 3 athlete on the U.S. National Team at 72kg, into the lineup, as outlined in USA Wrestling's World Team Trials procedures. USA Wrestling announced the change on October 19.
Who Is Precious Wieser?
Wieser has put together a strong 2026. She's the reigning Pan American champion, won silver at the Poland Open and reached the finals at both the U.S. Open and the World Team Trials Challenge Tournament. Her only previous World Championships appearance was at the 2019 U23 Worlds in Budapest, where she placed 8th.
When She Wrestles
Women's 72kg opens with qualification rounds on Wednesday, October 28 at 1:30 AM ET, with the semifinals that morning at 7:30 AM ET. Repechage and the medal matches follow on Thursday, October 29, with medals at 9 AM ET. Astana is nine hours ahead of the U.S. East Coast, so early risers get the opening rounds live.
